Christmas services at Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey Christmas services

If you’re in London during December you might want to participate in one of the Christmas services taking place in Westminster Abbey.    Dates have recently been announced.    Services, which are free and require no booking, commence on 2nd December, then the 16th and throughout the Christmas period.    This is a unique experience in one of the world’s great churches.

Westminster Abbey has been the Coronation church of British kings and queens since 1066 – thirty eight in total!    It has also been the venue for sixteen royal weddings and is the burial place for former monarchs and many distinguished people.

The church you see today is around 700 years old and is owned directly by the British royal family – governed by the Dean and Chapter on behalf of the Queen.
